Exquisite Cake Looks like The Interior of a Library.
In the recent times, Kathy Knaus has discovered
creative cake abilities. She designs a beautiful sugary sushi rolls to a
scaled-down fashion studio, but her most excellent work is her multi-tiered
library cake. In this tremendous design, Knaus has created a spectacular
interior section of a public library.
The lovely miniature display features a tiny
table, with two gumdrop reading lamps, and a minor chair placed directly in
front of rows and rows of books. An attractive model globe sits on the central
level with a rickety ladder that leads up to the 2nd floor, and the shelves on
both levels are stocked full of colorful book covers.
Knaus has paid cautious devotion to every detail,
together with the bricks on the exterior of the building as well as the tiles
on the floor of the interior space. The cake design is almost too fanciful to
actually eat! Despite of her library cake above, you may also admire her
efforts in making clever cake creations below.

Solar Powered Roads Introduced by Solar Roadways
A small United States company
“Solar Roadways” is presently developing a road surface that may change the
style of using energy. They’re making a road surface that is made of solar
panels. If the solar road is fixed across the United States, it’d have the potential
to yield more renewable energy than the country consumes.
A sample road has already been
made and installed in a parking lot. Nowadays, the company is considering for
funds in order to be able to make some improvements to the design and finally take
it into production. The company plan is to design the glass solar panels in the
shape of hexagons that are fitted with LED lighting. The panels can be fitted
on various surfaces. According to Solar Roadways, the panels would pay for
themselves, as well as benefit both homeowners and businesses alike.
The fresh pavement would generate
adequate energy from parking lots and drives to power buildings, though extra
energy from the panels would be sold back to the grid. Though the panels are
made of glass, they’re not weak. In a beautiful demonstration, a truck weighing
around 250,000 pounds was driven over the panels without inflicting any damage
on them.
The other advantage is to
built-in heating system that’d melt snow and ice on the roads and hence, lessen
the weather-related accidents. The panels could even be used to charge electric
vehicles sometime, using mutual induction panels that will charge the vehicles
as it drives along the road. The panels can even use the energy from cars
“headlights” meaning they could deliver power even at night. The glass used in
making the panels is 10% recycled.
Furthermore, the panels would be
wired to a network so any defective panel could be installed instantly. The
cables are concealed in “corridors” to give the roads an aesthetically pleasing
look and to make it tranquil for utility workers to gain access to the cables.
Solar Roadways guesses that if they can cover the 31,000 square miles of
roadways in America, they can produce three times extra energy than the country
uses.
Indeed this is a massive claim
and would greatly support the economy and the environment if brought into
reality. Though, at the moment, the company needs a big amount of funds and has
started an Indiegogo campaign. They’ve set a target of $1 million with which
they hope to hire more engineers to support them to improve the design and
create certain modifications. If company does meet their target, the project
could be start at the end of year 2014. No doubt this is massive project and
covering all of America's roads is sure to cost a lot more than their target.
Alert System Technology for Sleepy Drivers
A research team of Nottingham Trent
University is working on a latest safety system to alert sleepy drivers
and save thousands of human lives. The unique idea has proposed and is
working on it is actually very simple; just monitor the driver's heart
rate and alert the driver if he’s started to doze off.
The
researchers are planning to make this happen by incorporating sensors
into the car seats. A United Kingdom company, “Plessey Semiconductors”
is collaborating with the university on this exclusive project and has
been successful in making use of capacitive sensors that were mounted on
a driver's seat and were able to measure and relay the cardiac signals
of the driver.
Therefore,
the system requires to flat, alike really flat, and inconspicuous and
the researchers are suggesting to make use of a textile that will have
the sensors embedded into it rather than attaching devices onto the
existing car seats. The researchers are already come up with a
prototype, though, in words of the team; we still need some time to
improve the reliability and dependability of the data so that it can be
used for the intended purpose.
In
short, the data collection and data analyzing requires to be worked
upon further to create the process seamless and work without mistake. I
guess now many of you’ll think of the question that what’ll a simple
warning do? The driver might still opt to carry on driving and disregard
the alerts. Well, folks, you all know very well, we’re living in a
technology era and if the driver selects to ignore the alert, the system
will engage the cruise control and lane departure systems.
Perhaps
who knows they might also enhance with smart brakes to the system in
order to make sure that the driver is forced to pull over and not drive
while being sleepy. The project has already been acknowledged a funding
of $151,046 from the Technology Strategy Board and we’ve our fingers
crossed to understand how this works out. There’s no time frame yet, but
announcement, as to when this’ll be commercialized or used in
automobiles but we sure are looking forward to see that happening.
YETI Portable Cooler
An American Company YETI has introduced
this latest cooler bag that will chill your drinks for many hours.
Hopper Cooler by YETI - actually a shoulder bag that will let you to
keep ice frozen for days without any leakage. The company YETI behind
this unbelievable gadget has been manufacturing heavy-duty chill boxes
for years but this time around, he came up with a unique design of a
portable cooler.
Therefore; it is a
soft sided bag with a maximum capacity of 5.2 gallons in its chamber.
The bag inside lining is completely waterproof while the fabric that has
been used on the remaining part of the bag is also water-resistant to
avoid it from absorbing water if a sporadic splash occurs. The top,
which opens, has been sealed with an airtight and waterproof zipper of
such great quality that even if you hold it upside down, no spillage
will take place.
This portable cooler
has double-stitched reinforced handle straps to go along with its
watertight zipper, tear-proof shell, and thick insulation. The bag comes
with an insulation of 1" on the sides though providing 1.5" insulation
at the bottom which confirms that even placing it on a warm surface
won't affect the temperature within the bag. The bag downside is that
you won’t be able to get your hands on this gadget until October and
that for a price of £175 from yeticoolers.com. No doubt this is an
expensive item for a cooler, but this is definitely a worthwhile item
for your trip. The YETI has partnered up with the international shippers
Bongo International in order to make use of their global postage
scheme.Source: Charismatic Planet
